Kelly K. Thomas, DDS

Dr. Kelly Thomas was named Best Cosmetic Dentist in Kansas City in 2020 and 2021, one of the Top Dentists in Kansas City in 2022 and 2023, and one of the Top 40 Dentists in the Nation under 40.

She is a graduate of UMKC Dental School and has been practicing since 2004. Dr. Thomas also studied extensively at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, expanding her expertise in cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry.

Her approach to treatment begins with listening carefully to each patient. Following a comprehensive examination, she reviews the diagnosis and treatment options with you so you can make informed decisions about your care.

Creating a caring and comfortable environment is important to Dr. Thomas. One of her favorite aspects of dentistry is transforming smiles through bonding and veneers.

Dr. Thomas lives in south Overland Park with her husband, Paul. She has three children and a stepson. Greyson, Kyler, and Beckett are proud big brothers to their little sister, Charlotte.

When she isn’t at the office, you can find her cheering on her young athletes from the bleachers or sidelines, playing co-ed softball, or golfing.

Dr. Nicholas Smith

Dr. Smith is excited to join the team! Originally from Topeka, he went on to graduate from UMKC School of Dentistry.

He has always strived to provide the highest level of care using advanced technology and proven techniques. His focus is restorative dentistry, and his favorite part of the profession is seeing the happiness patients experience with their new smiles.

Dr. Smith’s approach to patient care begins with listening. He believes every patient deserves to be heard and that creating a comfortable environment is essential to delivering exceptional care.

Outside of dentistry, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, staying active, and playing golf. He recently married his wife in May 2026.

He looks forward to building lasting relationships with patients and helping them achieve their dental health goals.

Maureen

Business Manager
Maureen joined the office three years ago as the insurance coordinator before transitioning to business manager. With a long history in retail and dental management, the role is a perfect fit.
She’s your go-to person for questions about insurance, claims, and billing.
Maureen and her husband, Ron, moved back to the Midwest years ago to be closer to her family in Iowa. They share their home with their four-legged companions.
Maureen has a passion for animals and volunteers with animal rescue. You’ll often find her pups, Finn and Papi, by her side at home.
Danyelle

Patient Care Coordinator
Danyelle works in our front office and has been working in the dental field for four years. She loves helping patients and getting to know them.
When she’s not at work, she stays busy caring for her daughter and son.
Joy

Patient Care Coordinator
Joy is the smiling face behind the phone and also the first person who will greet you at the office! She has been a part of the dental field since 1996 and she joined the team at Leawood Cosmetic & Family Dentistry in 2026. One of her favorite parts of her day is building relationships with existing patients and meeting new ones. Joy continues to enjoy serving her community. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children—going to their baseball, soccer and cheerleading events.
Madison

FRONT OFFICE
You will be greeted by Madison’s smiling face when you walk through the door. She has a long history in the veterinary field and has made the recent change to dentistry. She is eager to meet and assist each patient. On the weekends, she likes to spend time with her family and spoil her dog and cat.
Makayla

Registered Dental Hygienist

Makayla is one of our amazing Registered Dental Hygienists. She has been part of the team at Leawood Cosmetic and Family Dentistry since 2024, and she truly enjoys getting to know her patients and helping care for their oral health. She is grateful to be part of such a wonderful team and loves building relationships with the people we serve. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, cheering on the KU Jayhawks, and spending time with her puppy, Russell. She is always looking forward to making new memories, exploring new places, and enjoying time with the people and pets she loves!
Shannon

Registered Dental Hygienist
Shannon is a Registered Dental Hygienist with nearly 30 years of experience in dental hygiene and a true passion for helping patients achieve and maintain healthy, confident smiles. She has been a part of the team at Leawood Cosmetic & Family Dentistry part-time since 2023 and full-time since 2026. Throughout her career, Shannon has developed a reputation for thorough, gentle and personalized care. She believes that exceptional dental hygiene is about more than clean teeth—it’s about building relationships, educating patients and creating an environment where people feel comfortable and cared for. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her large family and 3 granddaughters.
Nastasha

Registered Dental Hygienist
Nastasha is a Registered Dental Hygienist with over 7 years of experience. She has been with Leawood Cosmetic & Family Dentistry since 2026. She is passionate about educating patients on the importance of oral health and working together with them to personalize and achieve attainable goals for their overall wellbeing. She enjoys getting to know her patients of all ages, creating lasting connections, and making those with dental anxiety feel comfortable in our office. Nastasha loves being part of such a friendly and supportive team where everyone is committed to providing the best care for patients. When she is not taking care of smiles you can find her gardening, reading or spending time with her husband watching movies, doing various outdoor activities or enjoying time together at the lake.
Ashley

Dental Assistant
You’ll meet Ashley in the back when you receive restorative treatment. She has been Dr. Thomas’s trusted right hand, providing exceptional support and care to patients.
She enjoys her job and loves meeting and getting to know her patients. When she’s not at work, she’s busy keeping up with her very active family.
Ashley and her high school sweetheart are proud parents of three children. She loves the sun and warm weather and enjoys spending time outdoors.
On weekends, you’ll find her cheering on her kids at their sporting events. During the summer, the family spends as much time as possible at the lake.

Tamatha

Dental Assistant
Tamatha is an experienced dental assistant who brings compassion, skill, and a positive attitude to every patient interaction.
She and her husband, David, are proud parents of three grown children.
When she isn’t at the office, she enjoys traveling to visit family, gardening, birdwatching, and trying new restaurants around the city with her husband.
Tamatha brings a wonderful personality to our office, and we’re grateful for her cheerful, bubbly outlook on life!
Jaidan

Dental Assistant
Jaidan is primarily Dr. Smith’s dental assistant who is also currently on the pre-hygiene track in college. She has been a part of the Leawood Cosmetic & Family Dentistry team for almost a year now. She loves getting to know her patients and helping them feel comfortable and cared for during their visits. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and staying active.
